What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

Sunset, Wednesday night

I can't seem to shake this feeling of dread, this the-world-is-f***ed-up dread. But I am able to appreciate things, like this beautiful sunset. The wind brought in our first frost too Wednesday night: little glittering bits on the pumpkins, and look at the tiny damage it's done to the seeding basil. One little blackened leaf. It's like a stay of execution, you know?

I hope to be out of this funk soon.

Smart folks have said that if you don't feel low at times then you're not paying attention. Not much of a consolation, but a validation at least. Still, I hope things brighten for you soon- and know that your lovely blog brightens the days of people out here in cyber space.

When I get in a funk I go play with my little girl. She can always cheer me up.

The other day, I had a lousy day at work, then came home to take care of her (while her mom worked), and she had an accident in her pants --she's two, it happens. So I was cleaning it up, and she asked if I was happy. I said, "No Magda, I'm not happy, I don't like cleaning up poop."

A couple minutes later, she said, "I'm happy."

"Why Magdalena, why are you happy?"

"Because I love you," she said.

I'd clean up all the poop in the world for her.

You are not alone in your dread. It visits me while I sleep. I wake up with dread in my stomach. Then I look out the window. Another day. Hey! Another Day!! We're not dead yet.

FinA! Thank you. (I guess I am paying attention. Sometimes, I wish I had an off switch.)

Woody: Yes, a slow, long-cooked stew yields some tasty morsels. Now that we've got our first heavy frost, I can get down to business and cook (metaphorically and otherwise) in earnest.

Robert: so glad to see you're now blogging too! There is so much joy to be gotten out of the mouths of babes. And yeah, I'll move mountains for my own little girl, which is really the reason for my tirade.

Moonbear: Yeah, we've got some life in us yet, and the world keeps spinning. It's a beautiful world, too; I just wish we stopped treating it so badly.
